“It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” Or might he not be in want of a good bottle of Weil's near base level dry Riesling?
For me, one of the most irritating books I have ever had to crawl through is easily worth a lot less than this very fine wine. Care of the fastidious maker and the quality of the vintage you are getting a wine that punches way above its weight. This is classic Rheingau - the palate is electric and is 7 years young. I am reminded of lemon sherbet - or sorbet.
The scores allotted to this wine by most of the other reviewers I find hard to understand when compared to their reviews. If this is the equivalent of a low silver medal all I can say is that they must attend shows where the standard is breathtaking. One of the reviews speaks of Satsuma plum, which I also find puzzling - that is a red plum and this is white wine; it just makes no sense. I get ripe lemon, some citrus flower and a little guava.
I couldn't stop guzzling this, but it really deserved more appreciation. Sometimes the emotion must be allowed to take over. What more can one ask of wine?

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club" 2016-?; Germany Rheingau (@ SB): In the bouquet friendly white fruits. On the palate a fresh and slightly sweet start with ripe apple, pear, lime, melon flowers and beautiful acidity. A clean and very elegant wine.
