This is my 3rd bottle - the last was more than 2 years ago and I didn’t review it or its predecessor very well. This bottle is different.
There’s a pronounced orange hue in the wine now - I didn’t see that earlier. The colour is relatively pale overall anyway as we expect. There’s a bit of tar on the nose, and spices which I can’t pick but they’re very pleasant It’s not rich - it’s a savoury wine - but it’s very long and really drinkable now.
I decanted for 2 hours and then consumed it with family over a further 2 hours, and it was better at the end. I think this wine has improved greatly over the past few years and is coming into its own now

Long decant - 4hrs+. Nose - no rosepetals, a little tar. taste a little bitter and not what I expected based on previous vintage of this wine. I was disappointed.

So how well do Australians take on an Italian grape, and a tricky one at that? It certainly was a bit of a chameleon, opening to meaty notes, but settled later in the night to more classic cherry, raspberry and floral notes. There was something slightly bitter on the palate, and the tannins were still quite big. I'd say it's a pretty good effort, but still a WIP, like all good Nebbiolo. I'd baulk at paying full price though - get the Piedmont stuff instead.

Well rounded wine, good fruit. Medium body. Noticeable wood. Might have benefitted from more air. Slight cork taint noticeable unfortunately.

not as rich as the 2008, and disappointing because of it.
