  Red fruit and strawberry, spice, mineral, some herbs. Tasty wine. Superb with the Mamoun’s lamb, really all 3, including the shwarma, lamb tikka and lamb kebabs. Also great with the roast cauliflower with paprika and dill.

  Tasted the 2011 Vivier Gap's Crown pinot y/day and so this is a chance to contrast against that wine. I like that wine, with red fruit, good aromatics but the oak was elevated for me. So to this Sun Chase, not familiar with the site. Has a core of blue and strawberry fruit, whereas the Gap's is more red and black. Also an absence of the brown spice from the oak here, which lets the wine really show it's truer profile. There is oak, at least what I can sense, but it conveys here is a vanilla note, which I enjoy. It complements the wine, and it's also subtle, enjoyable. As I sit with the wine, there is also a presence of red apple in the core of the wine too, along with a good zip of acidity. At 2 hours open, this reminds me more of Anderson Valley then Sonoma Coast. There is plenty of flesh, also good fruit tones and balance. I sense whole cluster here too, adding the same prickly herbal edge that livens the palate. This comes off juicier than the Gaps, more zesty and bluer in tone, too. I really enjoy this bottle, love the freshness. Yet another really nice 2010 CA pinot.
