Community Tasting Notes (5) Avg Score: 89.5 points

  • Bright and ultra pure aromas of red berries, wood and some darker, deeper notes. Very fresh and pure on the palate also, with fine intensity and a touch of dryness on the lingering finish. High in alcohol (14,5 %) but else a very pleasing wine.

  • Bottled August 2012 without filtration, 14.5% ABV, 6,866 bottles and 180 magnums produced. Impressive nose of sweet cherries, dried herbs and currants, good depth, with a slightly dusty, earthy note; very tannic palate but not rough or overextracted, balanced and energetic, medium weight, packs a real punch; good length. Not the most refined of wines, needs time but should get there and age well, say 8 - 10 years. From the Cwines Signature Box. (89). On the second day this has really blossomed, the tannins have softened a bit, the dusty note has gone and the sweet cherry fruit really shines. One point added to the score. (90).

  • My first bottle of this incredible Rosso di Montalcino. Pure, earthy with fabulous balance and a long elegant finish. Round and delicious. If I did not know better I would have thought I was drinking a baby Brunello from Soldera.
