CdR BYO tasting (Le Miel in Yokohama): Very perfumed Viognier. Not particularily interesting, but well made. That's why the score is up from 80. Wife liked it more: 85p.

An interesting white wine, this 100% Viogner doesn’t come with the usual cooked fashion and sweet final Southern Rhône climate tend to give to this varietal. This beauty was obtained from 30 years old vines planted on clay soils, offering a yield of 40hL/ha, and then aged for 6 months in barrels. It for sure has a beautiful fat nose with some not so ordinary notes of dried and confit orange, which eventually transforms onto a garrigue-ish orange marlelade; but in the end, it stays well structured and not overly warm Viogner. 87 points
