Drank at ROH in London. PnP. A bit disappointing. Not much happening on the nose or the palate. Monolithic, with a warm sweet taste that reminded me of some lesser wines from Napa than a St Emilion from an average vintage.

Decanted and drank over two days. Medium body. First day nose and palate of oak and some spice, fruit acidity, soft tannin. Second day the oak is less prominent giving way to cedar, spice box, some creosote with less acidity than day one. In a good drinking spot at this time. Enjoy with food or on its own, but better with food. Decant for several hours or overnight.

Medium garnet with some edge browning, and visible glass stain. Aromas of medium ripe red cherry, cranberry, and some cocoa, caramel, and rocket leaves. Bright acids, with a bit of bite from tannins, and ripe cranberry and herbal flavours. Spice-driven finish

Decanted and drank over two days. Nose of black fruit and a bit of tar, although overall not significantly aromatic. On the palate the acidity is most pronounced with black fruit taking a secondary role. In my limited experience, the acidity of the 2012 BDX is rather consistent. This wine is best with food, resulting in more of the fruit and secondary nuance..

This wine seem unbalanced. There is minimal fruit, and what is there seems underripe. There is some astringency. I don’t think it had enough primary fruit flavors to last long enough for the tannins to mellow.
