Lovely mature, 100 per cent Merlot claret , that made a perfect accompaniment to slow- roasted lamb shoulder with shallots and Chantenay carrots. It is still a surprisingly deep garnet, with long legs in the glass. The nose shows a sweet vanilla note ( from the oak) , cherries, menthol, dark red raspberries , macerated dried fruits, cooked plums, and lovely ethereal wafts of bubble-gum fruits or Turkish delight, giving a light sparkle to the aroma. There is enough residual acidity, to carry the chewy flavours of compote of red plums, menthol - infused dried fruits , and leading into a drying leathery finish. A well-made wine that punches above its weight , a point now, but with 2-3 years ahead of it.

Quite smooth, rounded out with very subtle tannins and a decent level of ripe cherry flavours. It's a 100% Merlot, which I hadn't realised, when I purchased it, so not my preferred style but nevertheless, this is a decent, easy drinking wine, fine with or without food. Probably, now at its peak but would imagine that it will keep drinking well for the next two or three years.

Nice wine. Easy drinking, approachable now. Probably has several years in it and if you're willing to stock up, it comes in a wood case, rare for a wine of this price.

In the bouquet and on the palate some vanilla, red berries and cherries, some bell pepper, ok acidity and tannin.

Nice and decent Merlot Bordeaux. Good value. Nice aromas and structure. But don’t expect a Grand Cru, that would be an unfair comparison.
