Light body. Medium garnet colour. Slight rim variation. Soft nose - dried fruit, some spice and sulfides showing. Low tannin and acidity. Smooth. Something different but not a huge standout.
2nd glass picked up a smokiness on the nose and a little red fruit instead of dry fruit.

I don't find it over-simple. The nose and plate flavours are sweet strawberry and cherry and some earthy-mushrrom elements and spice. I feel there is depth to the flavours - it's definitely NOT simple confectionary flavours. None of that whole-bunch funk (a taste I dislike).
Length and line are solid, without being notable.
A 'solid' aged Pinot with at least three years left in it.
Now Night Three and drinking better than ever.

Peter Bourne - what's happening with Australian Pinot Noir (Dank Street, Waterloo, Sydney): Slightly corked/oxidised, musty, plastic containers over red fruit. IN the mouth the wine has flavours of cherry, spice with firm front of the mouth tannic grip. Meh.
