Like the last bottle, this needed lots of air to reveal its core fruit, which showed some dark berry, meaty, and savory notes. Still, the most prominent aspect of this wine is the tart acidity which made it difficult to enjoy on its own. It did tame down a bit by the last glass on the second evening after opening. If opening now, this is probably best enjoyed with a steak. Looking at my previous notes on this wine, I also felt similarly with the 2007 version. Perhaps the high acidity is a characteristic of the vineyard. A vigorous and long decant would probably also help.
Dark rose red. Plum, forest, and spice nose. Medium bodied, lots of blueberries, black pepper, candied cherries, well integrated tannins, a bit of smoke, and a slightly sweet medium to long finish. Great fruit flavors with enough complexity to back it up.

Just starting to stretch its legs - still leading with tons of blue and black fruits, but now there are more leather/earth/meaty/savory notes beginning to develop. Like most of Larry's wines, there's enough acidity here to let it go for a while without worrying that it will get tired or flabby. Drink up now if you're looking for that great Larner fruit; hold if you can wait a while for the fruit to pull back and reveal the complexity underneath. I'll wait a while before the next one.

More intense than the loco cuvée. Popped and poured. This was a standard Syrah. Nice woodsy and fruit characteristics. I'd recommend for daily drinker.

big and powerful with a touch of heat; I would have guessed this was a more recent vintage. I think this will be great but for my personal taste I would give it more time.
