PnP, chilled. Not as sweet as expected, and not, IMO, sweet enough to be a dessert wine. I would classify the Eroica as a Kabinett style, and this Eroica Gold as half way between Spatlese and Auslese -- just one man's palate... Worked extremely well with the chilled shrimp and spicy (horseradish) seafood sauce, and spicy orzo salad. May have been a bit too cold as the nose only yielded some peach. The medium to plus palate showed the same peach, plus touches of apricot, honey and minerality. The acidity put the wine in balance, and the fruity finish lasted quite a while -- without any petrol or bitterness. Overall, a very pleasing wine that probably works better with spicy food than with dessert. Should hold for at least a year or two.

A bit disappointed in this joint venture between Dr. Loosen and Chateau Ste Michelle to make a new world sweet riesling. Pears, apricot, nectarine. Medium+ body, off-dry sweetness (that alas seems to dry for my apple pie food pairing). Ok balance. Disappears without much of a fuss or finish. It seems unfair to compair it to the Mosel GG riesling that I had earlier the same evening but considering they are in the same price range I don't think I will be buying more of this otherwise well enjoyed wine.

This is the first in the Eroica Gold line for me. CSM rieslings are popular in our family. To the nose, a big bouquet of white peach, pear, apple (yellow the most) with white flowers. On the palate, very focused with the same fruit plus some apricot and slight honey. Slightly sweeter than expected, but minerality slightly less than expected - certainly more auslese than kabinett style. Very round mouthfeel but no petrol. Average length with no aftertaste. Overall, very focused with fruit that grabs your attention.

I don't get the comments here. Yes there's RS, the scale on the back tells you as much. My bottle had no petrol. What this wine does have is freshness and balance. The aromas and palate both show ripe lime, stone fruit (peaches/apricot) and a hint of mango. The sweetness is balanced out by medium acidity and light mineral notes. Medium-length finish. Way too easy to drink on a warm day but the structure should let it age through at least its 10th birthday.

Nice honey notes on the palate. Enough acid to provide balance. Long persistent finish.
