  • Very much a surprise on the positive side. By far the best Sangiovese I have had out of California. Lots of body, subtle tannins and intense fruit!

  • 3L format that drank very well, strong cherry notes with a bit acidity.

  • Dark purple color (5/5) with a strong fruity nose accented by new shoes (11/15). Good dark red fruit and that shoe leather on the palate along with some heat on opening. After time, the taste was like jam in a rubber bowl made by cutting a rubber ball in half. Finish is consistent with that, calling to mind fruit leather (13/20). Accidentally left the bottle open and out overnight and it held up nicely, so extra quality points for stamina. The wine is clearly made for current consumption though so drink up (6/10). High end pizza or other mid range Tuscan/central Italian dishes would make a good pair. It's New World but with a definite rusticity at its core. That will either appeal or repel.

  • Jammy aromas, sweet candy cherry fruit, and obvious alcohol. Really seems to have gone downhill over the last couple of years, although my preferences clearly have changed as well. Thought I could get away with serving as a pizza wine, but I ended up choosing water over drinking this. So glad it was my last bottle. From 375ml.

  • Popped and poured. Nose rather weak. Taste was easily recognizable as a Sangiovese blend. At the price, I'd choose a lot of Chiantis before repurchasing this. Not that is was bad, just not enough bang for the buck.
