This was a surprising find; a random choice made at the liquor store, knowing that Saumur included a favorite grape (Cab. Franc). Paid $17 for the bottle, and it seems worth much more than that. The nose is wet gravel, greenness, and petrichor. The palate is very relaxed and soft with a nice acid level. There are elements of fruit, black pepper, spice, and more, but balanced in a way that you sort of have to take this one in. Really enjoyed it.

Medium crimson with mild bricking. Medium aromas of red fruit with bell pepper and underlying herbal aromas. Medium weight on the palate, with red fruit and wonderful underlying herbaceousness. Medium acidity with medium tannins. Nice wine and well balanced. Drinking well now.

Dark ruby red. A food friendly easy to enjoy Cabernet Franc. Excellent balance of spicy red fruit, supple tannin & moderate acidity. Medium bodied, fresh with a pleasant little tannic grip. Red cherry fruit enters with a brightness before quickly yielding to a spicy character. It doesn't show the level of herbaceousness I expected, but is a lovely layered wine.
Fruit driven & graceful. The spicy notes & tannins add some complexity to an entry level Saumur which hit the right notes on pizza night. Very nice.
