I'm not the greatest fan of Les Fiefs, because the price difference is not really big enough compared to Lagrange. I bought a couple of 2012s because they only cost 10 euros each and I thought it was good value. Well, it wasn't really. The nose is a little muted, with mostly spicy red cherry, the attack lacks power and from then on, it's downhill all the way. The wine tastes diluted and dull. It did improve on the second evening, otherwise the score would have been lower, but this tastes like a generic 2013 (I shudder to think what the Fiefs 2013 is like). There are lots of Crus Bourgeois 2012s offering much more for the same price.

Bricked garnet, opaque, not particular clear, no sediment.
Aromatics screams Grand Cru Bordeaux. Savory, mushroom, sous bois, cassis, bright cherry.
Completely resolved. No trace of tannin, medium body, dry. Elegant red fruits, smoked cigar, graphite, cedar.
Supremely elegant wine from Chateau Lagrange. First vintages made by Mattieu Bordes, Lagrange's current winemaker and general manager, I think. Popped this now or over the next 5 years with ease. Never disappoints! 89.

$30 flatiron Too much oak imo and not enough tannin, very fresh for being 2012, the chihuahua liked it more than I did

Very decent and classic if a shade hollow on the mid-palate and not that interesting. Some charm too.
