  • Retail $50. I have said often in this space that I am a bit of a Pinot hound and that the variety was my vehicle to evolve from being an obnoxious French wine snob to a slightly less obnoxious French wine snob. Byron Kosuge was one of those first producers that led to my metamorphosis. I bought a singular bottle of this vintage on one of my subsequent visits with Byron and I decided to pop it to compare with a Kosuge Hirsch Vineyard from the same vintage. This wine? Earth with black cherry on the nose, while the palate is rich and multi-layered. There's just no getting around two assertions: Byron is a talented winemaker, and this Habitat is rather delicious. Just short of a Whoa. thedrunkencyclist.com

  • Popped and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Cherry palate with a bit of strawberry. Not complex but enjoyable. These should be drank over the next 2-3 years.

  • Intense nose of sassafras, cola and cherries. Palate reveals a light weight Pinot which is belied by its density and color. A bit austere in the middle with an admirable balance; tannins seems complicated and lengthy and acidity rides high. Interesting snail like slick of 'Pinot' things left on your palate for a long time after it's gone. Not your typical Sonoma Pinot for sure, this one needs some food and air to show it's best. Forgot I had these and I think I have another, but when I find it, I will forget about it....again.

  • Popped and poured. Drank over 2 hours. Pretty straightforward Sonoma Pinot. Not a lot of complexity but lots of god fruit. THese should hold up well for another 5+ years. Good value and enjoyable.
