Opened for a virtual winetasting. This was our first Peay Viognier and the oldest one in our cellar so we were ready with plan B if it was no longer drinkable. Despite good cellaring, the cork broke on removal . Nevertheless, the wine had not deteriorated and was quite enjoyable. Nose was initially modest and monolithic but emerged nicely after about 15 minutes at room temperature; notes of lemon curd and peach on the palate, with good acidity; lengthy, enjoyable finish.

Good medium-light hay in color, not picking up much on the nose, but the palate is crisp and flavorful, definitely a more reserved, almost lean-ish Viognier style, but with enough flavor to make it interesting, then piercing, mouthwatering acidity. Quite good, if not exactly classical in style. With a couple more bottles, I may save these to see how they develop with a few more years.

In a good place, more restrained than flabby, with plenty of acidity to balance the apricot, peach and pear flavors.

First Dinner of Hospice du Rhône 2018 (Blackberry Farm): Light golden color. Aromatic with surprising acidity.

Medium yellow. Clear. Tangy approach, light in the mouth with tart acid. No sign of aging. White tea nose. Tasty. Sourced from the winery.
