A nose of dark fruit and spice, dark garnet in color. A medium to full bodied red blend, with black cherry, currants, coffee, Asian spice on finish, still a big wine. www.winelx.com

Fantastic bouquet that you want to dive into. Needs about 30 mins to begin to open. Its a little funky on first impression almost like it came from the rocks AVA and not Red Mountain. I get some tar, leather, pepper, plums. The finish is long with nice acidity. Tannins are now smooth and well integrated. Its hot at 15%ABV so keeping it cool is a must or the alcohol takes over. 2011 seems even more crazy since we have now had 5 years straight of record warmth and GDD since then. This wine truly captures the tough year that it was to grow fruit.

Barnyardy nose and on palate. Then lots of dark sweet cherries. Cedar

Dark fruited and smooth - not much backbone or complexity. Very pleasant to drink but nothing special.

I'm typing this note a few weeks after drinking The Pixie 2011 and did not record any detailed notes. Liked it quite a bit though.
