pale red rim, dark core Big ripe nose, spicy and malty Big chewy wine, pretty old school Australian despite the unusual grape mix. tastes a little baked. Nutty finish Not that keen on this

Montefalco Visit '15; 9/15/2015-9/20/2015 (Montefalco, IT): Rich, deep, complex. Dark and chocolatey. Big and sweet, but just on the edge of too much. The addition of cinsault takes this a little bit away from the classic Sagrantino profile, but still a tasty wine.

NEWTS Tasting. D'Arenberg - Style over substance or substance over style (Newcastle upon Tyne): Never had sagrantino before.
The nose is rich, perfumed and leathery.
Crunchy red fruits dominate the palate though there is a touch of spice. The dry tannin give a chewy texture and a dry, dry finish.
Not incredibly harmonious even for it's age but I do like the texture.
