  • We compared a
    - Hattingley Valley NV from Hampshire
    - South Ridge 2012 from Sussex
    - Sainsburys 2010 from Surrey
The Wine Society now has the Ridgeview as their English sparkler. The Sainsburys is a Denbies.
The Hattingley had the most fruit, light, not a huge nose, reminded me very much of a Nyetimber. Very enjoyable.
The South Ridge was the favourite for a third of the group - fizzier and gassy, not as much depth as the others
The Denbies we expected to show the most age but was in fact quite pale. Nice fruit still but not a long aftertaste.
All 3 are ready now. No need to keep any longer.
English fizz is so strong now.

  • Very pale. Clean nose.
Good fruit on the palate though not as well rounded as some other English fizz. A good Summer bubbly.
