  • PnP. I liked this better than previous bottles. Raspberry with a touch of mint and spice.

  • Even though it has been 18 months since my last note, I should have taken my own advice and given this some air. Rough start that smooths out a little with air. Not sure if this needs time or just to be drank for what it is.

  • Pop and pour. This has an enticing aroma full of black fruit and bramble. Palate is full of the same. Some initial rough edges (flabbiness) smooths out with air which also adds some complexity. Don't strongly disagree with others description of open for business but would suggest giving it some air at this time.

  • Pnp. Clear, ruby colored wine of medium intensity exhibiting developing aromas of black cherry, raspberry, cinnamon, clove, black pepper, liquorice and charred wood. Dry, medium bodied on the palate with corresponding levels of acidity, alcohol and tannins presenting medium intensity flavors of aforementioned profiles. Tannins present are soft and fine grained.

I didn't enjoy this as much as I had on my previous experience and found that on its own the texture presented a slightly heavy/flabby mouthfeel. Finish was perfectly acceptable however and I suspect the difference this time around was the absence of a fat grilled steak to accompany. Will re-visit that experience with the next bottle. Nonetheless a well made wine that should easily drink well over the next few years.

  • P&P. Rather focused, dark nose - full of blackberries, root beer hard candy, orange peel, and cherry cola. The palate initially comes across light on its feet, but gains weight as it moves across. Similar flavor profile as the nose, with dark berry/rootbeer candy/oranges, red licorice, and a touch of both ashy/smokey and oaky spiciness. Should drink very nice for 5+ years.
