  • My first experience with this hard to find varietal out of Switzerland. PnP, dark purple in the glass, the nose is all about dark cherries, raspberries and hints of stone. The palate is fresh with acidity and carries structured tannins that hold up the strong cherry and blackberry fruit base. The body is slightly angular and the acidity can be a little overwhelming if not paired with food.

  • Single vineyard, this grape comes in white and red wine. Smells like ripe Grenache, with a touch more blue fruit. This is a 25 km valley just over the border, the high altitude slopes gets the heirloom grapes. All of the vineyards are worked by hand, sometimes brought down by helicopter.

And yes, it holds true that you get a strong sense of minerality across the palate. Intense drive and energy.
