South African Wine + Surf Trip; 5/17/2014-6/1/2014 (Western Cape, South Africa): Nose shows apricot, white peach along with some brine and lemon pith notes. Tangy and nervy but also creamy. Lemon peel, green melon, I like the combination of cream and sea salt. Quite complex for 99 Rand, a long finish. After a long day of surfing Llandudno, this hit the frickin spot.

Flight 5, South Africa, Wine 2 (blind): The wine was pale lemon in colour and offered a rather reserved nose of lemon, pear, quince and cabbage. On the palate the wine showed lemon, apple and shredded hazelnut, paired with medium-level acidity and average length. A medium-bodied, unoaked Chenin Blanc with limited complexity. Drink now and over the next three to four years.
