  • The 2011 Squitchy Lane Chardonnay is true to form of most good Yarra Valley Chardonnays from the vintage, with the wine structural, elegant and capable of further development given time.

I had the opportunity to taste the 2010 and 2011 side by side and it was interesting to note the similarities in terms of structure, but also the differences with the 2011 having slightly more developed malolactic/lees characters to balance the wines natural acidity.

The 2011 needs time to unravel with melon and nectarine characters subtle and restrained, there is considered mealy characters on the mid to back palate with a layered finish.
