  Kleur: Medium strogeel. Aroma / bouquet: Beperkte expressiviteit… Tropisch geel fruit als banaan en overrijpte ananas, roomboter. Geen spoor van tertiaire aroma's. Smaak / Afdronk: Aangename, onberispelijke Chardonnay met een uitstekende balans. Rijk, een bovengemiddelde vulling maar een (relatief) beperkte complexiteit. Algemeen / potentieel: Ik ben een groot fan van de (rode) wijnen van Gaja, vaak kostbaar maar vrijwel altijd indrukwekkend. Ook deze Chardonnay heeft een serieus prijsniveau. En dus was ik benieuwd naar het rijpingspotentieel van deze wijn. Die stelt me wat teleur. Een prachtige en aangename Chardonnay, maar geen 'value for money'. Voor dit geld koop je ook een prachtige Bourgogne. Met rijpingspotentieel. 50 + Kleur: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 11 + Smaak / Afdronk: 13 + Algemeen / potentieel: 7 = 86/100

  Candy, some wet cloth, chalk, good length, but lacking harmony a bit, with air the weird notes faded a bit and it became a bit better. This might become substantially better with 10 or more years of additional bottle age in Cold cellars, if it doesn't oxidize

  The Chardonnay from Gaja is the most famous and expensive Chardonnay from Italy, but also one of the most overpriced wines in Italy. Tasted blind and thought it was a flabby Meursault – Rich tropical fruits, creamy nose, layers of sweet fruits and cream and spices. Fair amount of new oak, oily texture but feels a bit flat. Meursault 1 Cru? 2015? (87/100) Not worth £200 a bottle…

  Shane's Birthday Dinner (Otto e Mezzo, Alexandra House, Central, Hong Kong): Gorgeous. Light gold colour. Fantastic nose....alluring, rich and buttery but great acidic sea breeze freshness. Similar palate.
