The '05 Riserva is a stunning wine, and one of the best wines I have tasted from Brovia. The wine is showing really well right now, but I think it will improve moderately over the next ~5 years or so, as today the flavor profile seemed to be at or near peak, but the tannins could still use some time to smoothen. It's likely that this wine will remain a touch rustic in texture, but it more than makes up for that with its dark, mysterious flavor profile.
On the nose, I found dark sweet spices, balsamic, red plum fruit, dark red berry fruit, dark floral tones, and licorice. The aromatics here are dark, sweet, and a touch savory, and seem to be at or near peak for my taste, as I could see the fruit fading here if one tries to age this wine for another 10+ years. On the palate, the wine is medium in body with the tannins starting to integrate, but remaining a touch grainy. A rush of dark fruit, balsamic, sweet spice, and licorice tones flow across the palate, but with refreshing acidity the wine still feels fresh and vibrant despite the darkness of the flavor profile. The wine seems to combine the dark, balsamic tones of Villero with some greater freshness and some reddish / floral tones due to the blend of Rocche.

This was very good but not thrilling. Expected a bit more from this anniversary issue. Very good mouthfeel, smooth and already quite some tertiary notes on the nose. The wine lacked a bit the acidity and aftertaste was somewhat short. Still a very good Barolo! I would drink this now.

New years wine. Surprisingly spry and light on its feet. Tighter dusty red fruit and clean aromatics. The color was closer to its age. A good bottle for sure but not a fall down great bottle. Hold for a few more years if you have it.

Drank for my b day and it was not what I was expecting a little too aged for being a 2005. Would call it muddy.. Maybe it needs more time open. not sure.

Very nice, I think it shows the weakness of the vintage, compared to say an '04 or '07 Brovia Villero
