  • This is a blend of Pinot from a number of vineyards. For the small size of this winery, the volume of this cuvée is substantial: 49 barrels. While this is perfectly drinkable with inviting cherry and cola, it lacks depth or breadth. The color is light and so is the mouthfeel. The finish is a bit bitter; almost green. Frankly, this tastes as if it might have been bled off of various lots to increase the extraction of the remaining juice. This comes as part of the quarterly sample wines as a member of the Filos club. (Ampelos has an excellent membership program and they offer excellent individualized customer service.) Not much sediment until the very bottom where it is dense. 14.1% alc. With roasted salmon under a mustard crust. Recommended.

  • Medium crimson in color with serious cloudiness, this wine shows defined notes of cherry cola, raspberry and pomegranate on the nose. The mouth feel was medium bodied with noticeable pekoe tea, smoke and cherry compote elements. The finish was moderately long with a spicy, tar note adding to the pleasant, abundant red fruits. The 14.1% abv was apparent, leaving a slight burn at the end.

Purchased for $22US, this is a beautiful PN with defined clarity and focus. Short of the somewhat hot finish, it delivers on all cylinders, especially price.

  • Nose of bold red fruits with strawberries and cherries being the primary. Palate shows a deeply structured Pinot with dark red fruits running the show. The mid palate shows some over-ripeness and the overall balance seems a bit disjointed. Finish seems a bit clipped too. I was hoping to like this more than I can, but after last night Littorai, I may be ruined. Really.

  • Young but approachable, opened for an hour and poured through an aerator, red fruits and cinnamon dominate the palate with a smooth finish.
