Pale, luminous lemon-yellow color. Fragrant and slightly sweet-toned but also somewhat neutral and linear nose with aromas of ripe white fruits, some orchard flowers, a little bit of stony minerality and a candied hint of gummi bear. The wine is ripe, medium-to-moderately full-bodied and somewhat neutral on the palate with a bit mild flavors of ripe white fruits, some apple blossom, a little bit of savory spice and a hint of stony minerality. The doesn't feel particularly restrained, only lacking in depth and intensity. The medium-to-moderate acidity keeps the wine balanced, but doesn't lend much intensity to the flavors or sense of structure to the wine. Silky mouthfeel. The finish is medium-long with mellow flavors of fresh golden apples, some persimmon, a little bit of stony minerality and subtle spicy tones, before tapering towards mild salinity.

A rather generic Italian white wine that doesn't really stir much enthusiasm. The overall feel is balanced but aromatically the wine is quite simple and lacking in intensity. Although the wine is surprisingly youthful for its age - meaning it could continue to develop - I doubt further aging will improve the wine much. It just feels there isn't much to improve upon. This isn't a bad wine in any way, just very pedestrian, feeling more like a generic Pinot Grigio than an impressive Pinot Gris. One of the most lackluster efforts in our 2011-2000 Schiopetto white wines tasting.
