High acidity, so worked well with a ricotta stuffed manicotti in a basil tomato sauce with sautéed bay shrimp. The nose was sharp and hits you when you take your first whiff. After some aeration, you get a hint or violet and vanilla on the nose. Tanins are soft and this is ready to drink now. Medium body, ruby red color and no legs at all

Poured to a medium dark purple coloring. A pop & pour red with notes of red fruit, (cherry & currants), meat fat, and plum. The finish included an astringent herbal acidic note such that I would have attributed this bottle as coming from Asti, not Alba.

Paitin with Giovanni Pasquero-Elia (Bin 75): Darker core with more vibrant violet garnet rim; sandalwood, tobacco, meat, anise, dark cherry, dark red fruit, some herbs; medium minus body, fresh acid, sun dried tomato, ripe blackberry, plum, dark cherry; good.

Red currant, violet, dry blackberry leaf on the nose. Classic Barbera, bone dry with soft tannins and high acidity. It has as very pronounced herbal character and red cherry on the finish.
