Pop and pour and served with food (some chicken and green beans, in case you were wondering). Vibrant ruby red color. Nose is forest floor, some pine cones and "bramble." What is bramble? I think it is that row of vines and bushes that you hike through as you scramble down the trail towards the river's edge on a mountain hike. Good bright fruit of fresh raspberries and some tart cranberries and pomegranate. Lively notes of fruit and bright acidity. Shows some cool climate influence. Very tasty but it could well benefit from some additional bottle age. Still, got a good beat and I can dance to it.

POE Wines - Winemaker's Dinner with Samantha Sheehan (The Loft @ The Montage - Laguna Beach, CA): This is a big boy. All the components are in ample supply. It's dark colored, sweet cherry/red fruit and tons of acid for a Pinot Noir. This vineyard just clicks out the acid which is great and promises age worthiness. All this and it has a silky mouthfeel and a medium plus length finish.

20% whole cluster, 25% new wood. Perfumey nose, great balance with a darker edged quality. My note says 'burly'. There is lots of acid here, forest floor, blue fruit, hint of root beer, with depth and a prickly, lively finish. Is grown 2,000 in elevation on the northern coast of Mendo with an ocean view from the vineyard. I enjoyed the blue fruit and pine notes.
