This Carignane forward (51%) blend is absolutely beautiful right now. . . If you have any in the cellar, it is likely approaching peak (I noticed that CT says drink by ‘18 but I’m telling you that with proper cellaring this can go another 5 years or so). Wife and I went to a tasting at the Monte Bello location, and this was on the tasting card. . . Could not get enough of it. Tart, red fruit front end, then the weight of the Zin and PS kick in harmoniously. A spectacular midweight blend that has cajones and a long finish. . . I just stocked up as for the price and age, this is an absolute Best Buy and you can have no patience with it. . . Just open and enjoy.

Tasted blind. A bit of VA, tart fruit, and leather on the nose. Quite tannic with some dark fruit, dark berries, and generally very fruit driven palate. Medium finish.

Deep dark center, red rim with only modest signs of age. Blackberry and blackcurrants, a little pepper and spice, alcohol is there, oak. Smooth and rich, plummy and crushed black olives, significant tannins and acidity, quite sensuous, very grapey and extracted in a balanced way, port flavors (without the port sweetness or alcohol), soy sauce, long fruity, chocolate and slightly meaty finish. Very interesting blend of ~50% Carignane and ~50% Zinfandel (plus a little Petite Sirah). Drinks well now with food, but has the tannin to last several years longer. This is quite a serious wine and seems to need aging beyond the Ridge recommendation (I would say 5 years).

Still going great! Easy drinking right of the bottle, for at least 2+ hours. Years to go.
