Ripe, rich, warm blooded and powerful wine, has a lot of floral aromas and a smooth texture, a hint of bitter on the back end. This is well done, but in a style that is quite big and oaky. I would look for some sweet, smoked bbq to match. (84)
day 2 the nose has developed some fabulous smokey notes on the nose, the oak has taken a step back, the ripe fruit is more integrated, this is big still but the nose, the nose...! this will be great given time (91)
obviously, just silly to rate this numerically.

96% Shiraz, 4% Viognier. red and black fruit, a little floral, again, a touch of eucalyptus to the nose. sweet, ripe fruits, but not as rich as the SMG showed. suave palate. smooth entry. Dedicated to one of their growers, Wally Cree (?). His grandparents came over in the 1840s. 'Hanging Snakes' = 'Bloody Hell'

Lots of spice and flowers on the nose. And then generous fruit on the palate but a tight mineral finish. A gorgeous nose I am being told, and that is very true. Named after the grower Wally.

Not quite there to be purchased again
Even after 5 years in the cellar the balance is off with too much alcohol and too little substance.
Generally a big fan of Langmiel, this is my first try at their entry level wine and my wife and I were disappointed.
Better options at the $20 price point.
