This wine has held up very well. It has a rich smokey nose with layers of blackberry, casise, boisenberry, cocoa, and tar. Surprisingly good. Pairs well with blue cheese, marbled beef.

Really surprised how much I like this. I wasn't expecting this much from a lesser known appellation. I would've thought that it wouldn't stand up to 12 yrs of aging. If I were Parker (god forbid), I would definitely call this a "sleeper of the vintage". The label says its predominantly merlot. Full of rich fruit and a lovely mouth feel. It was hard not to drink too much of it.

As jccolclasure noted, not overly complex. But for the money, this is a great bottle of wine. Nice balance between fruit, acid, and tannin. Drank well on day 2 when preserved with a vacu-vin. 89+.

Bordeaux Blind (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Dark ruby purple. Ripe chocolate and red currant aromas. Nice acid and tannin structure with sweet currant and raspberry fruit. Comments: Very likeable nose on this wine begging you to consume it. Following that the structure was a nice surprise and bodes well for the future of this wine. Recommended.

(Château Haut-Mazeris Canon-Fronsac) Very little nose; good structure, coffee and roasted oak on nose, along with firm tannins. Should be a pleasant food wine in a few years. Currently a little tight, but respectable. 88 pts.

Dense, fruit with balanced tannins. Drinking well now. Drank with a spicy BBQ pulled pork meal and it held up nicely. No overly complex but good.
