Very deep dark colour. Definite musky smell with undertones of fruit and spice. Medium bodied with dry tannins, dark fruit and long finish. Doesn't have the depth of other vintages of this wine but still a reasonable drink. Probably would have been better a few years ago with more prominent fruit. No sediment at bottom of bottle.

This bottle finally proved to me the old adage, there are no great wines, just great bottles. I found a few of these at a local retailer listed at $22 and picked them up one at a time. Bottle one was mediocre. A lot of green peppers, a little thin. The second was better, more of the better aspects of cab. The third, however, wow. Fantastic nose, more complexity, very nice red fruits, some spice but utterly smooth and pleasant to drink. So, a wager in a bottle. At its best, a great bargain can that punches above its weight.

This bottle has been through the wars, several earthquakes, and survived - the label stained with wine from smashed bottles. Still deeply coloured, the nose is taking on that lovely sweetness you get with age. Floral character with dried fruits, really lovely. The palate doesn't quite live up to this promise. Nicely integrated but I think beginning to dry out. Good time to be drinking thus.

Unable to muster the strength to attack in the Classic Aussie way. Tamed with a hint of musty elegance that doesn't last long enough.

Dry, not a lot of flavor.
