  • Past prime, hard to recognize as Syrah. But mellow and pleasing to drink after less than hour decant, and held up to next day with vacuvin

  • Lovely elegant Shiraz. Quite minerally, with freshness and deep earthy plummy palate. Just mid weight, more Ccote Rotie than st Joseph. Lovely length and good complexity. Very impressive.

  • Drank beautifully on opening, but some air gave it a lot more length and complexity. I really enjoyed this.

  • Bottle previously tapped by Coravin. Had with rump steak and roast pumpkin, squash, egg plant, zuccini, garlic and red onion. Green peppercorn, slight wild black berry, crushed rocks, slight leather notes. in the mouth it's juicy, the peppercorn flavour is there but it's quite mild - not overly spiced - with some muted black berry before it's joined by flour textured tannin on the medium plus length finish. Went well with the steak and veg and also by itself afterwards. Very nice.

  • From Coravin. Black berries, green over black pepper, meat, earth and a certain crushed rock quality. hints of cream and saddle leather. On the palate the wine is more peppery than fruity - though there are some black fruits still here spice dominates. There is plenty of juciy acidity and the tannins are almost drying and quite chalky in nature. Nicely balanced and, though obviously not superb, it's well made and appeals to me. the drinking window says by 2015 but I wouldn't say it's near the end of it's life. I rather like this. Emminently quaffable.
