  • Assorted riesling at D Cuisine (Chicago, IL): Clean and bright with that great 2012 acidity in full display, with just the right amount of sweetness to counterbalance. Great mineral texture (almost chewy) and balance with all the separate elements. Probably not as interesting when this loses its primary intensity though.

  • #02-13, 8.5% abv. Yowza, what an electric wine. I can't believe the last time I tasted this was almost 10 years ago. I bought a bunch of these at the first Rieslingfeier Crawl that I went to and forgot about them. This wine has definitely calmed down a bit from its youth -- it's not as electric and bracing with its acid as I remember it being on release, but it's still plenty zippy and refreshing. Clean, minerally, and all too easy to drink.

  • Nice fruit forward, citrus, tangy, and delicate sweetness. Fruit and sweetness cover the delicate minerality.

  • Crisp, juicy, thrilling! I agree with Seth on this one.

  • OK ... so this is really my style of wine, as I expect it would be from the reviews on CT. The wine is electric - seriously. Probably the most electric wine I've had in a while. Nose of lime, meyer lemon, white flowers, talc, chalk, minerals, powered stones. There's also a grassiness and herbal aspect. The nose is a wonderful melange of acidic citrus with a perfume of the flowers and minerality. The palate is similar - not as perfumed, but the acidity and moderate sweetness are thrilling and get me salivating just thinking about them more than a day later. Again, lime, lemon, minerals, stones, peach pit, brothy concentration, grass and herbs. Really crisp. I like Lauer's wines with a decent amount of RS - it gives them a juicy liveliness, and 2012 is the perfect year for that. I'd buy a case but it would probably only last me a week. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1.5/2 = 17/20.
