  • Nose is light and musty. Dark garnet. Fruit is almost gone but still there. Do not hold drink now if you habe some not holding well.

  • So I am bit biased with this wine. For several reasons. As a wine rep I had the distinct honor of working with Pete Seghesio 2 times in my market. Then I met him and his family at the winery. Including his 92 year grandmother. After 1 hour of slide shows and old photo albums we opened old bottles of Venom and barbera. Those were her favs....
2nd. My wife and I named our favorite Brittany spaniel, Cortina. She was so special to us. At 11 years of age and being a zinfandel I had expected it to be soft, alcoholic, and lacking life. However what emerged was a delightful and extremely enjoying wine.

Color. Pure garnet. Like the best expression of garnet in a long time.

Nose. Sweetened raspberry compote all the way. With a touch of cinnamon, clove, and brambles.

Taste. It's alcoholic to a point, about 20 seconds, then the tannins and acidity show up to balance out the finish. It's like a Russian River PN on steroids. A real treat.

This wine is at it's peak is not going reward additional cellar time. But for now, it's singing.

  • Rich and smooth, lots of cherry, with silky and well-aged tannin. Peaking in the drinking window, but can still age out through 2022.

  • Shows off on the nose, where it’s got peppery and funky zin spices over black fruit. It’s a little sharp at first, but with an hour or so in the air, it adds depth and roundness with nice sweet-toned blackberry fruit and an orange peel note that lingers through the long finish.

Started to write an 88 point review, but while I slowly wrote it and finished the last glass, it changed much to the better. Give it some time in the air on opening. Drinking nicely now, and in the next 3 to 5 years.

  • Dried blueberries on the nose and palate, not overwhelming; just right. Allspice, bergamot, tobacco, sawdust flavors persist to a long finish with dried blueberries at the very end. Really nice wine. Drinking perfectly right now...just as I opened the last one! Darn.
