Ganevat Dinner (San Francisco): Fragrant nose with burnt sugar, apricot, caramel, and citrus zest. Sweet on the palate but with good acidity and more apricot flavors, orange jam, and honey. Good finish. Delicious wine that has all of its components in the right place, but may lack a bit in complexity to make it truly special.

Made with old vine savagnin grapes, dried for a few months to concentrate the flavors. Intense notes of honey, dense tropical fruit, but balanced with wonderful acidity that keeps it lively and fresh. Yummm.

Jason comes to town (Chicago, IL): From half-bottle. This has a pretty odd nose that straddles the line between a vin de paille and a botrytised dessert wine. There's a slight hint of oxidative character. The palate is quite dense, with plenty of sweetness, and again it sort of sits on that line between vin de paille and TBA. Plenty of fresh acids to keep it from going cloying, there are some baked apple flavours, as well as some golden raisins and brown spice -- a veritable apple pie of a dessert wine.

Incredibly unique. Fairly sweet with both botryts and oxidation, two things I am not used to together. Truffle honey, mushroom grit, brazil nuts, dates and golden raisins. Very viscous. More of a Vin de Metidation than an easy drink.
