  • Bought for lunch at Noble Rot - this was elegant and mature, cool and crystalline straight out the bottle and a good match for lighter food. It gained some weight and body on the second day.

Tart strawberry sorbet is the dominant flavour - some raspberry, mushroom, game. It’s fruit-led and everything is nicely balanced and refined, albeit in a quiet, light and subtle voice. With air it does fill out and become richer, with some tertiary notes of chocolate and prune on the palate. Acidity is fresh and the overall impression is round, smooth and gentle with powdery tannins - it’s a surprise that it’s then so incredibly persistent on the palate.

Burgundy lives in its own universe, price-wise - and you’d never call this a £125 wine if it were from anywhere else. It was enjoyable and is undoubtedly well made but the QPR is difficult to get over.
