  • Had before and after grilled rib-eye. Opened about an hour early; decanted and eventually poured back in the bottle. Enjoyed the following 2.5 hrs. Nose black Cherry, dark plums; really nice texture on the palate, dark fruit, chocolate, vanilla. Full bodied and sexy, medium acidity with well integrated tannins; velvety texture; great depth and medium finish. Glad I have one more. Don’t think it’ll get better but will probably keep another 5 years at least with proper storage.

  • A very solid wine in a great spot, just an old generation x-er (vintage 1965) deploring alcohol and fruit overload. A one or two notch higher score would have resulted five or ten years ago.

After a two hour decant: inviting, dense, vibrant nose of blackberries and cherries. Clear expression that this wine is ready to party.
Mouth follows nose, adding sweetness and alcohol to the package. Some remaining acidity keeps things in check.
Stays mid long, fairly sweet aftertaste.

Drank most of these in past years, two bottles left. No regrets, but will hang on to the last bottles to see how the juice develops. There is still much to come.

Real nice Amarone...not too ripe. Start of its drinking window...drink over 5 or more years.
