Very different from the previous and much younger vintages of Privada we have had in the past. This bottle showed significant bricking in the glass on the periphery, not nearly as dark in color as the younger wines, very complex and subtle and smooth with a great aftertaste and not at all the brawniness of a younger malbec - the aging effects of the bdx blend with merlot and cab added to the malbec are really showing. A really good wine but approaching the top of the hill, would drink up any remaining holdings in the next 1-2 years. Medium bodied, relatively short but very pleasant aftertaste. Recommend decanting immediately prior to consumption or opening the bottle maybe two hours before consumption - this wine needs to breath a bit. Nose initially muted then developed soft and elegant floral, dark raisin and black pepper notes with primary flavors of burnt oak, caramel, sugar, molasses, mocha and blackberry. Definitely recommend this wine, not an unreasonable QPR.

Classy stuff and still quite powerful - some fruit giving way to coffee and chocolate flavours.
