La Paulée de New York - The Verticals (Eventi Hotel - New York NY): Walk around tasting in (great) vertical. Great aromas with so much cherry and so much savory spice. Really enchanting start, this follows through on the palate with lots of silky, elegant structure. Even better now vs when tasted shortly after release. Getting close to its peak drinking window.

The 2012 Clos de Tart, the final wine produced by Sylvain Pitiot at this estate, is intense and concentrated in the style of the best wines of this vintage, that hits you on first pop with dense raspberry that I want to call jam but that gives you the wrong idea as this isn't overripe at all. Rose and sous bois round out the aromatic profile. Silky and sensual with bright acidity and a bit of CO2. Medium-full body that suggests some weight from the 14% ABV. Very good already but best starting 2024.

Eric brought this in Jim's BD dinner. It was a powerful wine and the strongest compared with others in the night. It was still very young.

Excellent. Still closed, but deep and complex. Going to be a beauty.
