  • A bright red colour; fresh, still primary redcurrant and cranberry fruit with some well-covered tannin. Good depth and quite open, but should develop and improve over the next 10+ years.

  • (CdV)

  • Sappy and deeply fruited although the fruit never comes off as overripe in any way but more cool cherry pulp smashed on stones. Good acidity drives through the palate to the finish with tannin that are draped with fruit. It shows some floral notes and the finish has a bit of earth and chalky minerals. It may not be the most complex wine at this point, but what it does show, it shows in delicious, velvety waves that are fun on their own and suit pairing at the table. I'm glad no one else really likes these wines. This should age well for another decade or two but I'm going to continue plundering through these as the mood strikes me.

  • Not as exuberant as the last bottle I drank on the nose but the palate is still stuffed with dark cherries and red fruits that are long and silky.

  • This was as delicious a wine as I had over the holidays. Tons of exuberant dark cherry fruit with shape and lift. Really deep and long and coats the palate. A joy to drink and so nice to find it in an open spot, especially compared with the 2009 opened alongside it. Should be good for years of positive evolution given the underlying structure and shaping acid balance. This was another unbroken case from the recent HDH auction. I feel very lucky since I grabbed this for 60% of the price for the current release. Another thing I realize is that I've really enjoyed every 2012 red Burgundy that I've had recently. I don't have nearly enough of this vintage in th ecellar.
