  • Decanted for ~45 minutes, returned to bottle and enjoyed a couple of hours later. Fairly young Chambolle that was approachable enough but still fairly primary in flavor profile with lots of red berries and some spice. The palate seemed classically Chambolle with good silkiness yet some firm structure that still needs time to soften/integrate. I like this and think it has upside from here.

  • This was given 2 hours of air but not decanted. Red cherry color with very thick legs. Nose is muted at first but starts to reveal its feminine charm after a short while. Pungent, beguiling bouquet of strawberries, cherries, violets, fermented soybean, duck prosciutto and potpourri. On the palate, wine is velvety, luscious and rich with just a touch of rustic tannins to keep things from being ethereal. The bite is essential as it provides balance. Flavors are still primary for now given its youth. Strawberries, leather, soy sauce, salted plums, oak, and kirsch dominate the core. Acid is somewhat muted nonetheless. Finish is long, beguiling and fruity with a kick of smoke. That said, the palate is a tad thin, or elegant and weightless, as some may say. Great effort with high QPR.

  • First time tried this producer. On the nose, floral, dark roses, mineral, and forest floor, on the palate, it is not very fruits driven but showed good acidity and firm tannin, with great backbone on various spices. I see the potential.
Sigaut owns a few top premier cru vineyards in Chambolle Musigny, surrounding the Bonnes Mares. I look forward to trying others.

  • The wine integrated and is much more palateable now. The vegetal bitter finish is nearly completely gone; either some component of the wine integrated, or, conversely, my previous bottle was somehow flawed. Tonight's showing was more inline with a fruity domestic Pinot almost: a hint of spice from elevage and ripe fruit, and a big fist of glycerine cherry. Certainly enjoyable, but not yet silky. Ideally bottles should age another couple years I'd wager.

  • Quite curious indeed. A green tobacco vegetal layer blocks access to the heavy cherry fruit. This has absolutely nothing to do with this producer's 09-11 Noirots. Sudden ladybug taint, in 2012, but not 2011?! Baffling. Blind I would've guessed a 2011 Irancy. Somewhat idealistically hoping this is bottle shock; but how on earth could that introduce green aromas?! If only it could lose the green vegetal layer and expose the core of fruit which hides layers of roses. What the hell happened here?
