Woodlands's Cabernet Sauvignon is one of my favourite Cabernet from Margaret River. Although the name looks similar but Woodlands Cabernet Franc Merlot is their entry level red with 47% Cabernet Franc, 46% Merlot, 4% Malbec and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. Dark garnet core, some leafy notes and olive on the nose follow by black fruits, pepper and hints of spicy oak. It has a nice supple palate. Slowly open up in the glass to show blackcurrant and cherry intermix with dusty earth and forest floor. Medium finish with subtle peppery spice aftertaste and soft drying tannins. It is an easy and good entry level wine but it does not over deliver.
