  • Poured out more golden than you'd expect. Aromatically closed. Palate is also tight though plenty of freshness remains. Air didn't help much. An odd wine that seems past its prime.

  • Nose: mango, baked bread, hints of yellow flower, waffles, vanilla, caramel, popcorn
Notes: This is quite a full bodied and masculine white with quite a nutty and slightly grassy aftertaste, it seems that most makers are not able to shake off the grassy finish in this Grand Cru and I sometimes think this is one of the things in Corton Charlemagne that makes it less attractive comparing to its rivalries in Puligny/Chassgne/Meursault. Having said so I do find this quite balanced and warm with quite a welcoming and nice nose. It's quite ready to drink now and don't think it will be get much better with time.

  • Blind. Mature fruit and also a developed bottle, not not premox (yet). Some spices, oaky; big bodied, a bit clumsy, fat, some complexity.
