Anniversary Dinner with Friends (Anvil Club, East Dundee): More rich and nutty than the Peters, with aromas of hazelnut, brioche and caramel apple. The palate follows the nose. Medium bead with a good finish. Excellent. 92-93 pts.

Medium yellow, moderate mousse. Rich, fairly open style with some dosage, stone fruit, and a biscuity quality as well. Not as precise as some 2006 Champagne but certainly quaffable and very pleasant.

Straw yellow Boutique family growers Nutty, quite a bit of yeast, toasted, but of oak, earthy and rustic Moderate acidity (5.5), great bubbles, acidity grips and hangs throughout the palate and moderate plus finish. Moderate body. Dry finish. Kiwi, pears, green apples like Granny Smith, tangy. Earthy and rustic as well. Smooth and lingers. Great bottle of champagne. We need to look at more grower champagnes in the future

Sunday Group: 2006 Napa Cabernets (Our house): Orchard fruit, yeast and nuts. Rich and layered with a good bead and nice finish. Drinking very well.

S&E Wine - Burgundy Blind tasting with a surprise blind Lynch Bages Vertical Tasting (Our home): This was a beautiful champagne - Nutty and truffle forest undergrowth on the nose - yeasty. Smooth and integrated on the palate with green apples and while dry, not a bitey acidic finish.
Very complex and integrated.
