Anniversary Dinner with Friends (Anvil Club, East Dundee): More rich and nutty than the Peters, with aromas of hazelnut, brioche and caramel apple. The palate follows the nose. Medium bead with a good finish. Excellent. 92-93 pts.

Medium yellow, moderate mousse. Rich, fairly open style with some dosage, stone fruit, and a biscuity quality as well. Not as precise as some 2006 Champagne but certainly quaffable and very pleasant.

Straw yellow Boutique family growers Nutty, quite a bit of yeast, toasted, but of oak, earthy and rustic Moderate acidity (5.5), great bubbles, acidity grips and hangs throughout the palate and moderate plus finish. Moderate body. Dry finish. Kiwi, pears, green apples like Granny Smith, tangy. Earthy and rustic as well. Smooth and lingers. Great bottle of champagne. We need to look at more grower champagnes in the future

This bottle showed particularly well tonight. Very rich and deep, with notes of marshmallow, apple, hazelnut and vanilla pastry cream. Fine bead; nice acidity. Marshmallow, vanilla cream soda, ripe pear, sautéed apple and toasted almond flavors. Long finish. The best example of this wine we have tasted; hopefully my remaining two show as well as this one.

4th Saturday Group Annual Champagne Tasting (Sue's): Notes of limestone, mineral, lime zest and green apple. Flavors of honeyed pear, vanilla cream and apple. Turns to aromas of melon and pear, developed toasted marshmallow overtones. Nice finish- plenty of acid and fruit.

Opened by Allred. This grower/producer owns 24 acres in the Montagne de Reims. Most of their vines are in Chamery with a few in Eceuil and Montchenot (all premier cru sites). This is equal parts Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay. Sweeter than I would expect from a brut perhaps because it was rather lush. This also gave me a sense of being older than it actually was. Nutty character with notes of brioche and peaches. Rich texture. 89-90 points.

S&E Wine - Burgundy Blind tasting with a surprise blind Lynch Bages Vertical Tasting (Our home): This was a beautiful champagne - Nutty and truffle forest undergrowth on the nose - yeasty. Smooth and integrated on the palate with green apples and while dry, not a bitey acidic finish.
Very complex and integrated.
