This is a strong example of Crozes at its best. And for me, it is pretty close to peak drinking. Nose blackberry, olives, a bit of animale, a bit of lavender floral notes, heavy black pepper. Palate incredibly balanced - still showing fruit, but lots of secondary development of cacao, pepper, herbal and olive notes. Plenty of acid, plenty of fruit, great mineral, tannins largely resolved and integrated, though still very present. Hits way above appelation and price point. Paired wonderfully with gigot de sept heures for the holiday.

Best, and last, bottle. Vinturi'd into a glass and it was ready to go. Still, it improved with more time in the glass. Black berries, plums, olives, black pepper, bacon...this is just classic Syrah. Medium- tannins and medium- acidity. Nice finish. Prime drinking and can only go downhill from here. This bottle is just outstanding tonight. I could become a Northern Rhone fan based on this bottle alone.

Providing this note a few day after initially opening this bottle and drinking a glass. This one needed a day in the frig after opening. Otherwise, an overwhelming animal funk/ Brett aspect persisted the first night (even after several decanter hours). Now, it's much more like the first bottle that we drank earlier this year. A good mix of fruit and other Syrah-typical flavors (olives, black pepper, meatiness).
