Drank like liquid stone con the purest syrah fruits. This bottle was an incredible, transparent expression of the terroir and grapes. I had little interest in drinking any wine at the end of another 100F day, however this bottle drank with such ease and compelling interest, I quickly found my way to a couple inches of its bottom. It was the last of a pair, and I will not soon forget it.

Nearly opaque violet color with very appealing black and red fruit, white pepper, a perfumed melange of spice, eucalyptus, floral, and a hint meaty aromas. On the palate it's medium-bodied, and structured with mouth-watering acidity and velvety tannins with a very pleasing kiss of salinity. Flavor-wise it shows red and black raspberry, blackberry, ripe black cherry, and spice with an appealing bit of saline minerality with a lingering finish. Blend of 80% Syrah, 16% Zinfandel, 4% Viognier. 13.9% abv

Wax cap. Seems dark and brooding on the initial nose; meaty, black raspberry, white pepper; some mineral. These notes follow to the juicy, bitter-sweet palate where saline washes over squeezed berry juice, the savory with sap. It's all very pure but fantastical, expressive before the earlier than expected finish leaves the palate with the sense of some residual, lower-intensity cosmic background radiation -- a patina crafted from the impact of the initial explosion. For a well-aged Syrah that's getting on with its tertiary notes, this is notable for lending the palate nothing to grow weary of or cloy up over. For me, wine like this is almost more quaffable than a cup of water on a valley day. It's both a craveable beverage and a living element.
