  • Another great bottle of Lotto CLR25, remarkably complex, for lovers of rustic style wines. Outstanding QPR.

  • My third bottle of Lotto CLR 25, this time it was decanted for three hours and was even better than I remembered. Complex, structured, savory, deeply satisfying Etna red with an outstanding QPR. This lotto should hold for many years in the cellar.

  • My second bottle of Lotto CLR 25, and it's fabulous, just as good but slightly different from the first bottle. This is a bit more ephemeral, less obvious dark fruits, but the same complexity, savoriness, sappiness, and big acid and tannin structure. Outstanding QPR.

  • A savory and complex wine on the nose and palate. Tough to describe and that’s what is so intriguing. Light on its feet but has depth to its flavor. Fresh acidity but the fruit somehow still has a raisinated quality in a pleasant way - there is no sweetness here whatsoever. Notes of spices, dried flowers, smoke and cheese. But none of it is front and center. At the price point, a masterpiece for those who like rustic wines that go with food and while you are waiting to eat. Gets better as it opens up

  • My first bottle of the Lotto CLR 25, this is as good a Cala Cala as I can remember, as good as the CLR14. Consumed over three nights. On night one, 1/3 of the bottle was decanted and aerated, and the rest stored in the bottle without gas or vacuuming. It was great all three nights, best on night one because of the amazingly complex aromatics, and gaining heft, sweetness, tannins and earthiness on nights two and three. Typical translucent color and typical Calabretta cornucopia of aromas and flavors, including dark spices and a very pleasing medicinal note. It has great structure, from big acids and tannins, and a wild, exuberant personality, and a typical 14.5% ABV. It has a long, long finish of beetroot and peach pits. A wine for sipping. Outstanding QPR.
