  • Did not decant. Have been through almost a case of this wine over the past 5 years with consistent notes. Cassis and spice on the nose with a good midrange and finish with relatively soft tannins While it is a distinct bottling by La Tour Carnet with unknown origin of the grapes, it is still a good wine from a good year and provides some pleasure. Should hold for 3-5 years.

  • I think this wine is getting better, which has surprised me given its origins. Cassis and spice on the nose with a good midrange and finish with relatively soft tannins in the mid-range and finish, largely hidden by the fruit. This wine should last for 3-5 years. While it is a distinct bottling by La Tour Carnet with unknown origin of the grapes, it is still a good wine from a good year and provides some pleasure.

  • Did not decant. As a result, the wine was initially closed in with little in the nose or initial flavors. Opened up quite a bit after about 30 minutes with medium intensity cassis and wood in the initial flavors and moderate finish. Much better than I expected and hopefully will continue to develop. This apparently is a special bottling of grapes from the (bas) medoc area and is not the usual cuvee of La Tour Carnet.

  • This wine is the Bravoure cuvee. Spent several hours trying to find more information on this wine, but little information was available. Not sure if it is a special bottling of La Tour Carnet grapes, a new second wine, or a special bottling of purchased grapes.

Opened this wine about 5 hours before serving and double decanted. Despite these precautions, the wine was very closed in both the nose and initial flavors. Initial flavors included cassis and oak, moderate astringency tannins without bitterness, and a decent finish. This wine has considerable promise, but needs at least 3-4 years.

Served with grilled NY Strip steak which was a good match and the wine was somewhat better over time. Look forward to trying it in 3-4 years and I think it will be well worth the price for the quality.

Tried this wine again the next day, and the wine was very tired and oxidized. As a result, I would be careful about this wine; at least until there is more information on its origins and history.
